About Me
Artist, author, and traveller originally from Calgary. I spent over 25 years in the Montreal region after becoming immersed in French in Quebec City, where I also learned Spanish. My travels have taken me to India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Chile, Mexico, most of Europe, the Canary Islands, and Kenya. As a textbook author, I’ve written around 40 titles while teaching English and ESL at a Quebec college. I’ve published with Pearson Canada and created a developmental English series for U.S. colleges and universities.
Professional Skills
I am drawn to the beauty of sacred art. In 2025, I began to use gold leaf to evoke light through cathedral windows—transient, luminous, and transcendent. Falling leaves often appear as quiet symbols of time’s passing and the approach of our own autumns. I also incorporate tile, glass, and metal to reflect light and create a sense of structure—fragile architectures we build to give life meaning.
Down Time
After early retirement, I returned to my lifelong passion — visual art. I create oil paintings that incorporate collage and mixed media, with works sold to collectors in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. You can view my art at lgaetz.com.
